Der Goldene Felsen ist ein riesiger Felsen mit einem Durchmesser von etwa 6 m auf einer Höhe von etwa 1.200 m. Der Überlieferung nach wurde der Felsen vor 2.500 Jahren von zwei Nats (Geistern) dort platziert. Der Legende nach wird er nur von zwei Haaren Buddhas im Gleichgewicht gehalten, sodass er nicht herunterfällt. Es ist eine der heiligsten buddhistischen Stätten in Myanmar. Frauen ist es nicht erlaubt, ihn zu berühren.
The Golden Rock is a huge rock with a diameter of around 6 meters at an altitude of around 1,200 meters. According to tradition, the rock was placed there 2,500 years ago by two Nats (spirits). It owes its balanced position to a relic of Gautama Buddha, one of whose hairs has slipped between it and the mountain. It is one of the most important places of worship in Burmese Buddhism and an important place of pilgrimage. Women are not allowed to touch it or approach it beyond the pontoon that leads to it.
